Where Are They Now?

LAMDA is extremely proud of the achievements of all its alumni, both on-stage and behind the scenes, with many past students working for pre-eminent companies and theatres around the world.

Scarcely a year goes by without LAMDA's former students being honoured at a major film, television or theatre award ceremony. We were overjoyed to see Chiwetel Ejiofor scoop Best Actor at the prestigious Laurence Olivier Awards in March for his mesmorising performance in Othello. He also picked up a joint award with Patrick Stewart (for Best Shakespearean Performance) at the Critic's Circle Awards.

We were also delighted to see Rory Kinnear recognised for his part in the National's The Man of Mode, winning Best Performance in a Supporting Role at the Laurence Olivier Awards. Most recently, Rory was also named winner at the 18th Ian Charleson Awards, joining past LAMDA winners, Toby Stephens and David Oyelowo. Congratulations must also go to recent graduate, Harry Hadden-Paton, who also received a nomination this year for this prestigious award.

The Academy also featured prominently at the Golden Globe Awards in February. We were delighted to see Jim Broadbent adding to his collection with the Best Actor in a Mini Series or Film Made for Television award for his captivating performance in the title role of Longford. Ruth Wilson received a well-deserved Best Actress nomination for her charming portrayal of the title role in the BBC drama Jane Eyre and Donald Sutherland was also recognised with a nomination for his role in new drama Dirty Sexy Money.
