Supporting Tomorrow's Stars Today
As the oldest drama school in the UK and one of the most celebrated in the world, LAMDA plays a leading role in shaping the country's cultural landscape. Whether you are listening to the radio, taking in a West End show or catching a film on the silver screen, there is every chance that you are being entertained by some of the exceptional talent nurtured at the Academy. From established award winners Jim Broadbent (Iris, Moulin Rouge),
Maureen Lipman CBE (The Pianist) and David Suchet OBE (Poirot) to rising stars
Anna Maxwell Martin (double BAFTA winner), Dominic Cooper (The History Boys, Mamma Mia! The Movie) and Chiwetel Ejiofor OBE (2008 Olivier Award for Othello), many of the country's most accomplished actors began their journey at LAMDA. Behind the scenes of the top theatres, the flair and creativity of our directors, stage managers and theatre technicians also continues to shine.
To uphold this tradition of excellence, LAMDA strives to ensure that talented students can benefit from the exceptional vocational training we offer, regardless of their financial circumstances. As an educational charity, which now falls outside the remit of the National Lottery and Arts Council funding, we cannot do this alone.
The LAMDA Angels play such a vital role in the Academy by helping us train the world's finest artists and innovators. All Angel donations directly benefit the lives of our students by supporting their acclaimed productions and enhancing their overall training experience at the Academy. The Scheme also contributes to the Student Hardship Fund, which ensures that no student in financial difficulty has to give up on their once in a lifetime opportunity to train at LAMDA.
By witnessing the work of as yet undiscovered actors, stage managers and directors on their way to professional prominence, our LAMDA Angels can truly be a part of something special.
"LAMDA is, without question, one of the UK's leading drama schools. The crucial support offered by the Academy's dedicated Angels has allowed many of our young artists to complete their training free from serious financial worry. For this, we are extremely grateful."
David Suchet OBE LAMDA
alumnus (Class of 1969) and Advisory Board member.
