“When the course came to an end, I noticed that my English had improved considerably. What is more, some of the people whom I met at LAMDA have become very good friends. Whenever I think about the Academy, it always brings a smile to my face! No one should miss out on an opportunity like this.”
“I moved to London to improve my English and broaden my experience as an actress. The EFL Summer Course at LAMDA was very well organised and gave me an understanding of all the disciplines that acting requires. Back in Madrid, I still have fond memories of this course as one of the best experiences I had in London.”
The course combines English language teaching with practical classes in movement, acting and voice. It provides a unique opportunity for students to work with the LAMDA faculty whilst developing English language skills.
it is designed for non-native speakers of English who want to improve the way they present themselves and communicate in English. It is especially suitable for those with an interest in or connection with drama, anyone planning to train as an actor or for those already working in theatre or film.
The language sessions focus on speaking and listening skills; the expansion of vocabulary and pronunciation. Classes and workshops in movement, voice production, improvisation, acting and role-play run in parallel.
The course leads to a final open rehearsal of a set text which has been rehearsed over the 3 weeks.
The course aims to heighten awareness of and improve communication in spoken English which means that applicants should be at a strong Upper Intermediate / Advanced Level of English. It is therefore not suitable for beginners of English.
Tuition is given by English teachers and drama trainers. The course is very practical and aims to build up students’ confidence and skill.
Housing is available for all London workshops. Contact Admissions for details.
