None. The training at LAMDA is vocational.

8

If applying for the postgraduate courses, does my first degree need to be theatre-related?

No. A degree is not required for entry to these courses - they are loosely termed 'postgraduate' to mean that they are not for beginners. No academic qualifications are required for entry to any LAMDA course.

9

What experience do I need?

No specific experience is required for Three Year Acting, Foundation courses, Single Semester courses or Summer Workshops. Other courses require some experience, amateur or professional.

10

How do I fund my training?

Eligible undergraduate UK / EU students on the Three Year Acting course and all eligible UK / EU students on the Two Year Acting and the Two Year Stage Management & Technical Theatre course receive a funded place as at university and other higher education institutions. UK undergraduate students can also apply for loans to pay tuition fees and grants and loans for living expenses from the Student Loans Company or through their Local Education Authorities (LEAs).

Eligible UK-based EU students can also apply for loans to pay their tuition fees.

UK postgraduate students not in receipt of a funded place or student loans can apply for a career development loan - see funding section of this site for further details.

For further information on funding, UK / EU students should refer to www.slc.co.uk and their LEAs.

There are limited LAMDA scholarships available for the Three and Two Year Acting courses awarded at the Academy's discretion. There is no prior application process; all students are automatically considered. Click here for further information.

Students from non-EU countries should to seek loans / fundraising / sponsorship opportunities in their own country – click here for further information.

There are currently no UK government grants or funding for the following courses and so students have to be self-financed through bank loans, federal loans (US students) or personal fundraising:

One Year Acting course

One Year Foundation course

One Year Directors, Designers, Movement Instructors, Musical Directors courses

Single Semester courses

Summer courses

All applicants are strongly urged to investigate funding options prior to attending a recall audition or interview and certainly before being offered a place at LAMDA.

Minimum age for entry is 18 for all courses - apart from the 2 week Introduction to Drama School and 2 week Audition Technique summer courses for which the minimum age is 16.

There is no upper age limit for LAMDA courses but students should be capable of undertaking the strenuous nature of the courses.
