LAMDA’s Scholarships & Bursaries scheme

20% of students on the Academy’s three flagship courses are currently supported by LAMDA’s own Scholarships & Bursaries scheme. In 2010/11, over 40 scholarships were awarded to students across the Academy.

There are scholarships available to eligible students studying on all courses available at the Academy, including the LAMDA Foundation Course, LAMDA Short Courses, One Year Diploma Courses, the Acting Courses and Stage Management Course. Scholarships can provide students with money towards living costs or tuition fees. Scholarships are awarded to students in varying amounts, ranging from £500 up to £15,000. Scholarships are awarded at the Academy’s discretion on the basis of talent and financial need.

In 2012/13 there will be a number of scholarships offered to students prior to starting their training at the Academy. There will also be a number of scholarships available to students currently studying at the Academy. Decisions about eligibility for scholarships and bursaries are taken by the Scholarships & Bursaries Committee, which includes the Principal and representatives from the Drama School, Stage Management & Technical Theatre department, Registrar’s Office, Development and Finance teams. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of talent and financial need.

To be considered for any form of tuition fee discount, scholarship or bursary, you MUST indicate as appropriate on your application form to LAMDA and complete an application to Student Loans Company in order to be means tested. You can do this at www.slc.co.uk. If you do not complete this application, you will NOT be considered for support from LAMDA’s Scholarships & Bursaries scheme, the National Scholarship Programme or the Conservatoire Scholarship Scheme.

LAMDA’s Student Hardship Fund

The Student Hardship Fund is designed to help current students studying at the Academy who fall into sudden and unexpected financial need. The Student Hardship Committee, made up of members of LAMDA’s trustee board, meet each term and eligible candidates are required to present themselves with details of their need to the Committee in person. This Fund is only available to students currently studying at the Academy.
