Basic Information For All Students
- The minimum age for entry to LAMDA is 18, apart from the 2 week Introduction to Drama School & 2 week Audition Technique summer courses for which the minimum age is 16, There is no upper age limit for LAMDA courses but students should be physically fit enough to undertake the strenuous practical nature of the training.
- LAMDA welcomes applications from disabled people and offers places solely on the basis of potential and suitability for a career in any of the areas taught. - Class times are Monday - Friday 9am - 5.30pm with regular evening and weekend classes for some courses. All classes are compulsory.
- There is no housing attached to the Academy. However housing can be provided to students on the short courses - see below. Information on finding accommodation is contained in the pack sent on enrolment to all students on long courses at LAMDA. Some useful websites are listed in housing section on the housing link on the left hand side of this page.
- Housing is available for students on the shorter summer courses and the single semester courses. Housing cannot be provided to students under the age of 18. contact LAMDA Admissions for housing details.
- Students are recommended to register with a local doctor on arrival - see for information www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk.
- Any welfare matters during the training can be discussed with tutors and the Registrar who also deals with student welfare issues and support.
- LAMDA is affiliated to a medical centre in Kensington which has access to a range of doctors and specialists.
- LAMDA has a designated Counsellor who sees students free of charge and on a confidential basis.
- The Admissions Office also provides a wide range of student support services.
- Transcripts for courses apart from those mentioned below are available on request from Sarah Rowe, Vice-Principal on successful completion of a course. 1 copy is provided free of charge and additional copies can be provided at a cost of $5 or £3 per copy.
- Graduates of the Three Year Acting, the Two Year Acting or Two Year Stage Management courses who require transcripts on completion of the course should contact Kent University, the validating body for the course: Mary Nolan on m.m.nolan@kent.ac.uk, tel 01227 827599 or Miranda Williams on m.l.williams@kent.ac.uk, tel 01227 824568.
