Access and Widening Participation

LAMDA believes that the arts, and the best quality training, should be accessible to everyone and seeks to engage the largest number of people from the widest range of backgrounds.

For more information on how you can get involved with LAMDA, get in touch and we’ll be happy to help. You can email Rhiannon Fisher, our Access and Widening Participation Manager, at

There are many ways for Schools and CollegesYouth Groups and the wider Community to engage with our training, our work, our productions and our facilities.

What is Access and Widening Participation?

Widening Participation is a government-funded initiative designed to promote equal access and successful participation in Higher Education for all.

Through LAMDA’s Access and Widening Participation Programme we seek to inform, inspire and raise the aspirations of all who we work with.  We strive to ensure our world class training and activities are fully accessible to everyone.

Our productions and showcases are open to the public with concessionary ticket rates available. We partner with schools and colleges local to LAMDA and arts organisations across the UK through our LAMDA Links Programme.

Schools and Colleges

LAMDA uses its facilities and expertise to benefit schools and colleges by encouraging and supporting their engagement in theatre and drama activities.

LAMDA Partner Schools and Colleges

We are currently developing partnerships with a group of local primary and secondary schools and FE colleges in Hammersmith and Fulham and Kensington and Chelsea.

The schools and colleges we partner with have a high proportion of students from under-represented groups.  Through these partnerships we are able to deliver activities tailored to the specific needs of the students and staff at each institution.

Shakespeare in Schools Project

Each year the second year students on LAMDA’s Foundation Degree Professional Acting embark on a one week tour of our local partner secondary schools and colleges.

Selected Shakespeare plays are brought to life for students using a range of performance techniques including; stage combat, historical dance and singing.

After each performance we invite the audience to engage in a post show chat with the cast where they can discuss the rehearsal process and what it’s like to train at LAMDA.

“Wow! Watching this production made me love acting even more.”

LAMDA Productions and Showcases

We welcome schools to our productions and showcases which take place throughout the academic year at venues around London, the Lake District and Wales. Our seasons include the classics, exciting new work and musicals and are a great way to introduce young people to the theatre and to support their learning.

For school groups we offer a discount rate of £6 per ticket and a complimentary ticket for every ten tickets booked.

Discover LAMDA

Our Discover LAMDA series offers all schools the chance to receive a free post show chat with the cast and crew. This is a great way to find out more about the admissions process and what it’s like to train at LAMDA and put on a production. For more information, please contact Rhiannon Fisher.

Teachers and Careers Advisors

If you would like to receive free copies of our prospectus and updates about our forthcoming shows, open days and opportunities in the performing arts which may benefit the young people you work with, please contact Rhiannon Fisher.

Youth Groups

We work with a range of youth organisations across the UK delivering  activities designed to support those who already hold an interest in the arts and vocational training, as well as those who have had little experience in  the performing arts and few chances to find out about training opportunities in acting, technical theatre and stage management.

LAMDA holds annual auditions in 11 cities across the UK.  Each year, in partnership with some of the UK’s leading youth arts organisations, we deliver a series of free workshops in the cities where we audition.  We work with young people who hold a demonstrable interest in performance, stage management and technical theatre, as well as those who haven’t had much contact with the performing arts.

Our partner groups and organisations engage with a variety of young people including those from underrepresented groups. Our LAMDA Links programme enables us to build long term relationships with regional organisations and the young people they work with.

We are currently working with the following organisations:

The Drum, Birmingham

Creative Youth Network, Bristol

"I found it a really enjoyable experience and I’m glad that I took part, thank you LAMDA!"

LAMDA is proud to be a part of the local Hammersmith & Fulham community. Through cultivating partnerships with local schools, colleges and organisations we are currently developing and delivering an exciting programme of arts activities for Hammersmith and Fulham residents.

Productions and Showcases

We produce over 20 public shows across London each year – from Shakespeare to Sondheim, new writing to old favourites.  We offer a discounted ticket rate to our shows for Hammersmith and Fulham residents. Find out more about our productions and showcases.

Open House

LAMDA takes part in Open House each year, inviting the public in to have a look behind the scenes at our building.
