Audition and Interview Fee Waivers

LAMDA is committed to recruiting the most talented students, regardless of their financial circumstances. Although we keep our audition and interview fees as low as possible, we recognise that auditioning and interviewing for drama can be costly. Through the Conservatoire for Dance and Drama, we are able to offer several free audition and interview places each year for applicants in financial need. Please note that places are limited and offered on a first come basis.

Receiving an audition or interview fee waiver will not affect your application in any way and the audition/interview panel will not know which applicants have received a waiver.

The following information is for UK residents applying to LAMDA’s BA (Hons) Professional Acting, FdA Professional Acting or Production & Technical Theatre: Stage & Screen only.

You may be eligible to receive an audition or interview fee waiver if you are:

  • a current UK resident
  • applying for an undergraduate course (either a BA or Foundation Degree)
  • new to Higher Education (with no previous degree or any other Higher Education-level qualification)
  • and have an annual household income of less than £25,000.

If you would like to apply for a waiver, visit for more information and to download an application form. You should do this as early as possible in the applications process, and before you apply to LAMDA.

Note: The Conservatoire reserves the right to request written proof that you meet the criteria listed above.

You will only be able to apply for one free audition or interview place at one of the Conservatoire schools* in each academic year. Applicants are reminded to apply to the scheme and await confirmation of a place on the scheme before applying to the school for audition or interview.

Applicants will not be awarded multiple free places, nor are places transferable to another school (i.e. if you are applying to several Conservatoire schools in one year, you can only receive a free audition/interview place at one of those schools).
