About Shakespeare in Schools
Each year our graduating MFA Professional Acting students tour local secondary schools and colleges with fast-paced adaptations of Shakespeare’s most popular works. The school students get the opportunity to experience the excitement of watching the classics performed in close quarters, by a company of passionate young people using dynamic performance techniques.
As part of the performance tour our second year MFA Professional Acting students perform abridged versions followed by the delivery of post-show workshops to students in Year 9 – Year 13 in local schools and colleges.
Shakespeare in Schools is a tour established by our Access and Widening Participation department who tend to work with state schools who have a high proportion of young people who meet at least one of the following criteria:
- Eligible for Pupil Premium/ Free school meals
- From the Global Majority
- Identify as D/deaf or disabled
2023 Tour
This year the students are performing Romeo and Juliet and Julius Caesar. The tour will take place in the week commencing 9 October 2023 and week commencing 16 October 2023 and is a mixture of performing at local schools and hosting groups at LAMDA in our theatres.
